A Distinguished Academic Achievement
Ahumi British University congratulates researcher Lu’ay bin Abdulaziz Qumsani on being awarded a doctorate in Sharia and Law, specializing in law, for the 1447 AH–2026 academic year. The degree followed the successful defense of his dissertation, “Issues of Espionage in Islamic Sharia, Criminal Law, and International Law: A Comparative Study.”
The dissertation examines a complex subject at the intersection of Islamic legal principles and contemporary criminal and international law. Through comparative analysis, it explores how espionage-related issues are addressed within these frameworks and considers the legal and international dimensions associated with them. The research contributes to scholarly discussion of a topic with important implications for law, public affairs, and the relationship between religious jurisprudence and modern legal systems.
Dissertation Defense Committee
The defense was conducted before a committee of academics and legal specialists. The external examiner was Professor Ahmad al-Sayyid Muhammad Atiya, currently a professor at Al-Araik University, formerly of Ahumi British University, and a member of the Egyptian Fatwa Committee.
The internal examiner was Professor Iman Muhammad Adel al-Aqda, a professor at Ahumi British University and a faculty member in criminal law at Tanta University. Professor Ahmad al-Sayyid Ahmed Saleh, professor at Ahumi British University and resident member of the university’s Academic Council, served as supervisor and session rapporteur. Engineer Firas al-Sheikh Weiss supported the proceedings through technical coordination and preparation of the official minutes.
Research Bridging Legal Traditions
Comparative legal research can help clarify how different systems understand and address challenging questions. By placing Islamic jurisprudence alongside criminal and international law, Qumsani’s dissertation offers a framework for examining both shared concerns and distinct approaches. The university noted the value of studies that combine sound grounding in Sharia with engagement in contemporary legal analysis, helping enrich knowledge and serve society.
Ahumi British University extends its sincere appreciation to the members of the examination and supervisory committee for their scholarly efforts and for their contribution to assessing and strengthening the research. The university also reaffirms its commitment to serious academic inquiry and to encouraging comparative studies that support informed discussion across disciplines.
